Education

San Luis Obispo remains one of the rare communities where superior K-12 public education is available for everyone.

There are just no bad schools here.

Public educational institutions and facilities include San Luis Coastal Unified School District for K-12, as well as several private school choices in the city.

San Luis Coastal Unified School District (SLCUSD) includes 15 schools and serves approximately 7,400 students, including seven elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in the city. Several schools have been honored as Blue Ribbon Schools and California Distinguished Schools. Additional information about these prestigious awards and the district is available on its website www.slcusd.org.

Higher Education

San Luis Obispo has fine institutions for higher learning. Of course, there are the well-known Cal Poly State University and Cuesta College, but San Luis Obispo is also home to other great colleges and universities.

The University of La Verne chose San Luis Obispo to house its Regional Campus, featuring several undergratuate and graduate programs.

Laurus College is also a San Luis Obispo-based accredited college that provides a comprehensive training approach in fields such as IT Service, 3D Animation, Business, Medical Billing, Web Design, and Computer Networking.
