Rural Lifestyle
In San Luis Obispo, we embrace our authentic rural core, small town values and celebrate a way of life is merely folklore in most parts of the country.
We may be worldly but we live in an unspoiled rural setting. Surrounded by expansive ranch lands and rolling hills of vineyards and crops of all varieties, kids in San Luis Obispo grow up knowing where their food comes from.
Thursday Night Farmers' Market
We have easy access to locally grown foods with twice-weekly Farmers’ Markets in the city. Every Thursday evening the community congregates to enjoy a market that spreads through eight blocks of downtown. Not only farmers but local performers and restaurateurs get into the spirit, serving up their particular specialties streetside.
This is the biggest little market in SLO, a community market with a social feel. Over the past few years the market has grown to over 60 vendors and is the busiest of the SLO County Farmers' Market Association's five markets. You can always count on finding the freshest local produce brought to you by California farmers. This market happens every Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m.in the Cost Plus/Embassy Suites parking lot off of Madonna Road.
The SLO Grange hall hosts a farmers market every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot. Located at 2880 Broad St. in SLO, the market features various vendors selling an array of fresh farm produce, products and more.
