Permit Activity Reports

The city of San Luis Obispo keeps a running log of planning and building permit applications received and the Planning Division and Building permits that have been issued. The building permits only include those that are valued over $2,500.

Retail Sales (including TOT)

The city of San Luis Obispo produces quarterly Sales Tax Newsletters that covers sales tax revenues generated within the city limits. These newsletters includes summaries prepared by the city's sales tax advisor, highlights key trends and sales tax issues, as well as provides several charts and graphs about the city's sales tax base. slocity.org/finance/salestax.asp.

The city of San Luis Obispo also produces reports that cover the San Luis Obispo's transient occupancy tax (TOT) revenues for specified months compared with the two prior years. TOT is charged when occupying a room or rooms or other living spaces in a hotel, inn, tourist home or house, motel or other lodging for a period of 30 days or less. The revenues from this tax generate tourism promotion funds. slocity.org/finance/tot.asp
